Much like most first attempts, the excitement of our finished product quickly waned as we picked barley fragments from our teeth. Moose Slobber's dark color and rich body, was all hat and no cattle. The lack of fizzle and flavor reminded us that beer making was hard. After a quick beer run for drinkable beer, we began dreaming up the next batch.
The child-less backyard smelled of sweet malts and desire. We were on to something. Our second attempt at drinkable beer was interrupted by a hospital visit for Ivey's broken arm. She had enough of watching middle-aged men destroy the craft, so she ventured to the park for some real excitement. Her lust for life, coupled with an aggressive trip down the slide earned her naming rights.
"Let's make a pale ale." the team yelled in unison. This was the birth of Sink Co. A Pale Ale with five different hops. Get it cinco, 5... yeh, the beer fell as flat as this joke did. It was drinkable by those with no standards. But the crew remained unsatisfied and thirsty for more.
Jump on, we're heading to 7-11 for Slurpees and jolly ranchers...oh..and beer. Although our first drinkable beer, we remained true to form by making a pumpkin beer that didn't taste like pumpkin. Knowing full well that seasonal pumpkin beers are the "basic white girl" version of a pumpkin spice latte, we couldn't help ourselves. And we'll do it again!
